The
Wayfarers
The Wayfarers consist of Don Nichols on Bass,
Ian Clarke on guitar, Ross Roache on guitar and myslf John Lewis
on Banjo and Mandola.
Don Nichols
is of English origin by way of the West Indies. Don is a prime
force behind the Champiom Moreton Bay Band who play a regular
gigs in Morningside for the monthly Bush Dance.
Ian Clarke
is a Tasmanian (yeah yeah he's heard all the Tassie jokes) singing
(as well as Tasmanians do) and playing acoustic guitar.
Ross
Roache is a Local Lad who has several strings to his bow playing
not only with the aforementioned Wayfarers, as well as the Champion
Moreton Bay Band. Ross also performs with his old running mate
Mick O'Halloran as "The Slimy Brothers".
Myself
John Lewis, not quite a cockney I was brought up in South London
and came to Australia in 1972. I play guitar as a solo act and
with the group play Tenor Banjo and Mandola.
The Wayfarers
are the 'House Band' at the Kookaburra folk club situated in Given
Terrace Paddington. They play various benefit concerts, have performed
twice at the Redland Bay Folk concert and at Folkies Old and New
concerts at East Brisbane.
